Ego at Manor Farm – Worcester
Don’t you just love finding new places to eat, that ticks every single box? That’s exactly what Ego Mediterranean restaurant has done for me on a recent visit. Set in a beautiful Manor House not far from Worcester town centre and a stone’s throw from a nature reserve, this restaurant seems to have it all. Gorgeous interior, modern and cosy, with an extensive gluten free menu. We decided we would eat here on a Sunday so we could have the option of both the normal menu and Sunday roast menu. Unlike many restaurants that serve gluten free, my menu size was pretty much exactly the same as the ‘normal’ menu. Choices ranged from ham hock terrine, moules marinieres, paella, pasta, and chargrilled kebabs but to name a few. I felt truly spoiled. Skipped straight to the main course as I was secretly saving room for dessert. I had chosen the lemon chicken milanese which was served with a lemon caper dressed salad and skin on fries. The waitresses were amazing at answering all of my questions concerning gluten and assured me that the fries are cooked in their own fryer so absolutely no risk of cross contamination. Their knowledge was […]
Frankie & Benny’s – Cardiff
I can never resist a visit to a Frankie and Benny’s when we are away, this time our trip took us to Cardiff. We hadn’t visited the city for a while but I always remembered how well endowed it is with restaurants, especially ones that now cater for gluten free. We were off to watch a hockey match that evening at a local stadium so this bought us to the restaurant just off Dunleavy Drive. We were greeted by Matthew who grabbed me a gluten free menu and sat us down at our booth. He explained how things have changed at Frankie and Benny’s in terms of how they handle allergy orders and proceeded to show me a screen which I had to read and agree to, then went onto the online menu and selected my allergies which bought up exactly what I could order within the restaurant. Perfect, makes it even easier! Thank god my favourite House Burger was on there. There are so many options for gluten free at Frankie & Benny’s; burgers, ribs, pizza, pasta, chicken, it’s a difficult decision most times but the burgers always win. He really took the time to sit down with us […]
Rockfish – Torquay & Brixham
Torquay harbour is a beautiful setting for sunny walks, capturing some pictures of the moored in boats and even better for sitting down and grabbing a bite to eat whilst looking out at the amazing views. There are some lovely restaurants along the harbour walk and Rockfish has always been one that has caught my eye, with the outdoor seating facing the harbour and the fact that their entire menu can be adapted to be gluten free. It’s music to my ears so we decided we would give it a try one evening. We arrived at around 5:30pm and although the restaurant was busy we were seated promptly by a very friendly and welcoming member of staff. The drinks menu has a gluten free beer, a local Sea Cider and a Rockfish Gin. As always when dining out I mentioned my gluten intolerance and the waiter explained how they have gluten free batter and separate fryers and with these guys being Coeliac Accredited also, it’s always another reason to feel safer within a restaurant when ordering food. The tables are dressed with a paper menu that lists all the potential fresh fish that has been caught that day, if it’s […]
Prezzo – Torquay
This last week we found ourselves back in our favourite holiday destination of Torquay in South Devon. We absolutely love it here, not only is it a lovely seaside resort with plenty to do but the restaurants on offer here for people who need to eat gluten free is incredible! We stopped off at our old favourite Prezzo on Vaughan Parade just opposite the Golden Palm arcades, if you have kids you’ll know this is an ideal spot to just nip across the road and grab something to eat. I particularly love this building with its high ceilings and grand interior it really gives it a great ambience for dining. We were greeted by the manager who sat us down and asked which one of us wanted the gluten free menu, I love that every time I walk into one of these restaurants I always get asked this regardless of whether we’ve booked in advance or not. Drinks order was taken soon after and arrived quickly. The waitress was particularly good with my young son with her entertaining comments, another bonus for Prezzo, they are very family friendly and we were made to feel really welcome. They have pizzas, risottos […]
